How to Design Your Own T-Shirt Online in India

Getting one custom t-shirt printed used to mean finding a local shop with a minimum order of fifty pieces. Print on demand removed the minimum, but the quality of what arrives still depends almost entirely on decisions you make before you order.

Start with the artwork file

The single most common reason a custom tee disappoints is a low-resolution file. A design that looks sharp on a phone screen can be a fraction of the pixels needed at A3 on fabric.

• Aim for 300 DPI at the size it will be printed. For an A3 print that means roughly 3500 × 5000 pixels.
• Use PNG with a transparent background unless you genuinely want a printed rectangle around your design.
• Vector files (SVG, AI, PDF) are ideal for logos and typography — they scale to any size without softening.
• Screenshots, WhatsApp-forwarded images and social media downloads are almost always too compressed. Go back to the original file.

Choose the print size deliberately

Print size changes the look more than people expect. An A3 print dominates the chest and reads as a graphic tee. An A4 print sits more contained. A small left-chest logo, usually around 3×3 inches, reads as understated branding. Front and back combinations work well when the back carries the large artwork and the front carries something small.

Match the fabric to the design

A heavy, detailed print looks better on heavier fabric that can carry it without distorting. On our print on demand range you choose between a 180 GSM regular fit and a 220 GSM oversized fit — the oversized base gives large back prints more room and holds their shape better.

What it should cost

Custom printing prices in India vary widely because they bundle two different things: the blank t-shirt and the printing. Ask what the blank actually is. A ₹250 custom tee is not using 220 GSM cotton.

Before you place the order

• Check the design preview at actual size, not zoomed in
• Confirm the fit and size — custom pieces cannot be returned for a change of mind
• Leave detail out of fold areas near the hem and sides
• Remember dark fabric changes how colours read; very light colours on black lose contrast

One caveat worth stating plainly: because each custom piece is made for one person, custom printed t-shirts are not returnable unless the item arrives defective or we print it wrong. That is standard across print on demand, and it is why the preview step matters.
